Former Petrofac Senior VP takes position at Inductosense Ltd.

Inductosense Ltd., a Bristol based company that delivers smart monitoring for integrity management, has added a new appointment to their growing team. It comes at a time of significant growth for the cutting-edge technology developer, who secured £1.35m investment from a consortium of investors in 2017. Inductosense now has a 12-strong team across the U.K. and is establishing a business presence world-wide. The company is currently working with a number of major companies with an initial focus on monitoring assets across the Oil & Gas industry.

Inductosense has developed the latest evolution of ultrasonic sensors for monitoring corrosion and erosion in structures or products. This breakthrough technology was developed over several years by experts in the field of Ultrasonics and Non-Destructive Testing; Dr. Chenghuan Zhong, Dr. Anthony Croxford and Prof. Paul Wilcox. The WAND sensors are battery-free, wireless, RFID tagged and compact which allows for them to be installed permanently on a structure or product. The ATEX and IECEx certified sensors are entirely passive, the power and signal are provided remotely by non-contact inductive coupling from a handheld measurement probe.  This provides instant readings even if the sensors are attached to structures are beneath a layer of material or coating – a seamless and cost-effective process that removes human error from the process.

With a predicted 300% increase in turnover for the next financial year, Inductosense has ambitious growth objectives. The business recognises the wealth of opportunities still presented in the Oil and Gas industry and, with confidence in the industry’s ongoing recovery, a new Non-executive director has been appointed. Former Senior Vice President of Petrofac, Roger Smith, brings extensive experience developing businesses within the Oil and Gas industry, having previously founded and sold successful consultancy companies.  His expertise working directly with major operators in the Asset Management arena will support Inductosense in delivering smart monitoring benefits to the end user.

Roger said, ” Inductosense has successfully progressed from a university start up to a commercially and customer oriented business. The Inductosense technology has gained traction with customers across the energy and utility sectors in the corrosion management /asset integrity market. There are many challenges ahead for the business and I am confident that the team, led by Dr. Matt Butcher, will make this business a great success. I am very pleased to join the Board of the company and play a part in the next stage of its development.”.

CEO of Inductosense, Dr. Matt Butcher, said “Over the past year we have had great success in development of smart technology and commercial deployment of sensors. This is an important period of growth for Inductosense and we are excited to welcome Roger to the company, he brings significant specialist expertise and industry experience – a valuable asset for the business and our clients”
