Inductosense secures grant funding for emerging market applications

Inductosense Ltd (Bristol, UK) have secured two tranches of grant funding from InnovateUK to develop the existing commercial inductively coupled Wireless And Non-Destructive (WAND) ultrasonic sensing technology for high performance composites and subsea applications.

Titled ‘Wireless, battery-free sensing of composite structures’ our vision for this 30-month project, is to provide a commercial solution to meet the current manufacturing and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) in-service challenges met by end-users and OEM suppliers, across different composite sectors. Supported by Innovate UK, we are primed to engage with the entire composites supply chain to scale-up our technology to facilitate cure monitoring and in-situ structural monitoring for retrofit and new build components.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Inductosense to build a composites capability and a commercially ready product to help meet the growing needs of rapid inspection in the composites sector.” Dr Tim Coope, Composites Manager, Inductosense.

The second project titled “Lifetime testing of passive, wireless sensors for demanding environments” is supported by the Innovate UK Analysis for Innovation (A4I) Competition in collaboration with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). Subsea market applications will further support our offering to the oil&gas industry, and the collaboration with NPL will provide us with expertise and facilities to carry out further environmental testing of our existing WAND sensor technology.

“Both of these grants are enabling us to address new market opportunities with our wireless sensing technology and contribute to our growth in the future. We will be setting up new capabilities, developing expertise and it is great to have the opportunity to work with world-leading experts at NPL.” Dr. Matt Butcher, CEO, Inductosense.
