What is the WAND-PDC?
The WAND-PDC is a drone-mounted ultrasonic inspection system that collects wall thickness measurements from permanently installed WAND TM Sensors. It enables safe, efficient inspection of hazardous, elevated and difficult-to-access assets, with data transmitted wirelessly for analysis in iDART.
Which industrial inspection drones is WAND-PDC compatible with?
WAND-PDC features a modular plug-and-play design that can be attached to industrial inspection drones such as the Flyability Elios 3, ScoutDI Scout 137 Gen3 and Voliro T. It can operate as a standalone system or as part of an integrated UAV platform.
What are the key benefits of enabling WAND-PDC?
WAND-PDC helps reduce personnel exposure to hazardous environments, minimises the need for rope access and scaffolding, improves access to coated and insulated assets, and can collect up to 50 wall thickness measurements in around 20 minutes.
How does WAND-PDC collect and transmit data?
The payload communicates with installed WAND TM Sensors using inductive ultrasonic coils and RFID technology, providing reliable, repeatable wall thickness measurements with live A-scan readings. Data is transmitted wirelessly to the ground station and can be analysed in iDART for long-term corrosion monitoring.
Can WAND-PDC inspect insulated assets?
Yes. WAND-PDC can inspect insulated assets when used applied with the ECHO accessory, allowing wall thickness measurements to be collected without removing insulation. This reduces inspection time, cost and disruption while improving asset accessibility.
What is the WAND-PDC's wireless range?
WAND-PDC has a wireless payload range up to 100m / 328ft
