What is the WAND-RDC?
The WAND Remote Data Collector (WAND-RDC) is a battery-powered device that automatically collects wall thickness measurements from installed WAND TM Sensors. It is designed for scheduled internal corrosion and erosion monitoring in remote, hazardous and difficult-to-access locations.
How many WAND TM Sensors can one WAND-RDC monitor?
One WAND-RDC can automatically collect measurements from up to eight WAND TM Sensors. This allows multiple wall thickness monitoring points to be managed through a single remote data collector.
Can the WAND-RDC take wall thickness readings automatically?
Yes. Measurement schedules can be configured in iDART so the WAND-RDC collects thickness readings automatically at predefined intervals. Live readings can also be requested when required.
What is the WAND-RDC's wireless range?
The WAND-RDC uses long-range Bluetooth 5.0 and has a wireless data retrieval range of up to 200m/656 ft (line of sight). This allows measurements to be retrieved without needing direct physical access to the monitoring location.
How long does the WAND-RDC battery last?
The WAND-RDC has a replaceable battery with a minimum life of five years based on eight readings per day at 20°C/68°F. Battery life will depend on the measurement schedule and operating conditions.
Can the WAND-RDC be used in hazardous areas?
Yes. WAND-RDC is intrinsically safe and the current V2 specification is certified Ex ia IIC T4 Ga. The unit is also rated IP66 for protection in industrial environments.
