A Pathway to Thickness Measurement Locations (TMLs) Digitalisation
Erik Fabre to Present at ICorr Wales and South West Event – September 2024
Erik Fabre, Head of R&D Projects at Inductosense, will speak at the upcoming ICorr Wales and South West event this September. The event serves as a platform for industry professionals, engineers, and thought leaders to come together and explore the latest innovations, tools, and strategies shaping the future of corrosion monitoring and asset integrity. Hosted at Mott MacDonald’s Bristol office on Thursday, 19th September 2024, the event promises a focused and insightful agenda. Erik will deliver a presentation titled "A Pathway to Thickness Measurement Locations (TMLs) Digitalisation", which highlights Inductosense’s pioneering role in transforming how the industry approaches thickness monitoring.
In his presentation, Erik will explain how the digitalisation of Thickness Measurement Locations (TMLs) can significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of corrosion monitoring across industrial assets. Traditional ultrasonic testing (UT) techniques rely on manual inspections, which often suffer from inconsistent coupling, variable probe placement, and human error. These issues can lead to data that is difficult to trend or compare over time. To solve this, Inductosense developed the WAND TM Thickness Monitoring Sensor—a permanently installed, wireless ultrasonic sensor that enables consistent and repeatable thickness measurements without requiring couplant or power at the point of measurement.
Many industrial sites such as refineries, power plants, and chemical processing facilities often feature tens or even hundreds of thousands of TMLs. Manually inspecting each of these locations poses logistical and financial challenges. As a result, operators often focus limited resources on high-risk areas, leaving lower-risk zones monitored less frequently. Inductosense provides a scalable and cost-effective solution that allows permanent sensors to be deployed broadly across assets, not just in critical areas. This broader coverage enables more frequent and reliable data collection, improving corrosion management, forecasting, and decision-making.
Erik will also showcase how Inductosense’s product ecosystem including Handheld Data Collectors (HDCs), Remote Data Collectors (RDCs), and robotic inspection tools, integrate seamlessly with the WAND TM Sensors to create a comprehensive digital inspection workflow. Together, these products enhance data accessibility, streamline inspection logistics, and enable higher-frequency monitoring even in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas.
